SECTION 100: GENERAL RULES

110 GENERAL

111 As directed by the SCAA bylaws (Section X.2.1), the SCAA Rules of Competition shall govern all competition sponsored by or approved by the league.

120 COMPLIANCE WITH USS AND SCS

121 Except as directed within these rules, the SCAA Rules of Competition shall follow and adhere to all rules and guidelines set forth by United States Swimming and Southern California Swimming.

122 In the event of a conflict between the rules of SCS and SCAA, the SCS rule shall take precedent.

130 TECHNICAL RULES

The Technical Rules of Competition are those that govern actual competition, including starts, turns, strokes, and other aspects of the events. Other areas that are covered are seeding and procedures for determining order of finish and official time.

131 Except as directed by the SCAA Rules of Competition, all meets shall be run in accordance with the United States Swimming Technical Rules of Competition, to be found in "USS Rules and Regulations," Part 1.

140 SEASONS

141 In accordance with the SCAA bylaws (Sections X.1.1-2), there will be both a winter and a summer season, each of which shall include a league championship meet, dual meets, and other approved competition.

142 The last day of each season shall be the final day of the league championships for that season.

143 The next season shall begin on the first day following the final day of the league championships for the previous season.

144 Dates for each season’s league championship shall be determined by the board of directors during the prior season.

150 CALENDAR

151When determining the dates of events for SCAA the period from the first day of the winter season until the last day of the summer season inclusively shall be referred to as the "Calendar Year."
